The Cairo Opera House will host an event in honor of Egyptian composer Farouk El-Sharnouby on Thursday, February 4.
The evening will feature many renowned singers: Ali El-Haggar, Marwa Nagi, Ahmed Sa’ad and Mohamed El-Sharnouby, presenting a selection of the work of Farouk El-Sharnouby accompanied by an orchestra conducted by Mostafa Helmy .
The repertoire will include some of El-Sharnouby’s greatest hits of all time such as Tair Fel Sama, Ala Einy, Nefsy, Bent W Walad, Bahlam Ala Addie, Ana Kont Eidek among many others.
El-Sharnouby, born 1951, was one of the most prominent composers during his heyday in the late 1980s, enjoying a long career in which he collaborated with the majority of leading singers over decades, including Amr Diab, Magda El-Roumy, Eman. El-Bahr Darwich, Hani Shaker, Medhat Saleh and dozens of other stars.
He wrote music for many films including Alexandria New York by Youssef Shahin in 2004, in addition to many theatrical successes like Hazemny Ya in 1992.
