Ryan Monro played bass with The Cat Empire for 20 years, and now faces his next challenge: playing bass on his own. He began cracking the code for his debut album Isolated Bass, a sun-warped dash band of fuzz drones, analog drums and slow-motion zinc-coated surf guitars, pieced together from 12 years of voice memo ideas with a skeleton team the size of a backpack. of studio gear amid New Year’s euphoria after lockdown in a cabin in the woods. He enjoys long walks on the beach and plays fewer notes than ever.

Maria Moles is an Australian drummer, songwriter and producer based in Narrm/Melbourne. His solo percussion performances draw on ideas from Philippine Kulintang music and contemporary electronic production to weave hypnotic webs from layers of limitless impulses that slowly undergo subtle textural transformations. In collaborative contexts ranging from free improvisation, jazz and contemporary composition to experimental pop, Maria brings a keen sense of touch, placement and timbre, as well as a powerful rhythmic drive.
