Don’t miss Summit’s two-week arts festival coming in May

SUMMIT, NJ – It’s showtime this May in Summit, as 14 arts organizations come together for the Summit Arts Festival – a two-week celebration of all things music, art, theater and dance.

The festival will kick off on May 1 with a series of performances and events that will last until May 14. Candace Wicke, executive director of the Continuo Arts Foundation, spoke about the festival at the Summit Common Council meeting last week.

“We want to showcase the best of the arts at Summit to really raise awareness, support and appreciation for the arts,” Wicke said. “The arts are an integral part of the composition and texture of what makes Summit so special and unique.”

In particular, Wicke said the performing arts have been hit hard during the pandemic and this festival will highlight several theatrical performances.

Wicke said this is the festival’s first season, but she hopes to make it an annual event at Summit.
