Liger stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role.

  • Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger is flowing in theaters.
  • The film will wrap up its theatrical release in the coming days.
  • The film is directed by Puri Jagannadh.

Before Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s film hit theaters, it was supposed to end Bollywood’s drought. The film ticked off every formula that would have worked in the pre-pandemic era, and the actors pulled out all the stops in the film’s promotions. However, the result? Liger failed to bring the public back to theaters! The recently released film crashed miserably at the box office. It received negative reviews from audiences and critics. This indicates that Liger will soon be removed from theaters. It’s safe to say that Liger barely made an impact in theaters.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger hit theaters on August 25 in five languages. The film raked in Rs 33 crore on its opening day. However, since then, the film has seen huge drops in its box office collections. Liger recently completed a week in theaters and is barely hitting the cash. Even on weekends, it makes practically no money. Trade reports suggest that Liger is on a downward trajectory and the same continued on day 10, September 3. According to reports, Liger’s worldwide box office collection was Rs 1.1 crore and the Hindi version could not earn even one crore. After the latest earnings, the film’s total global collection so far would stand at around Rs 66.89 crore gross worldwide and Rs 18.7 crore net for the Hindi version.

Written and directed by Puri Jagannadh, Liger is a sports drama starring Vijay Deverakonda trying out the role of an MMA fighter with stuttering issues. While Ananya Panday played her love, Ramya Krishnan was considered her mother. Boxing legend Mike Tyson was seen in an extended cameo. Vish Reddy, Makarand Deshpande, Ronit Roy and Ali played supporting roles.
