Poète MDI to read from the new collection on August 10

NORTHEAST HARBOR – Mount Desert summer resident and poet Lucy Bell Sellers has released a new collection that spans eight decades of writing.

The Northeast Harbor Library will welcome vendors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10 for a reading of “Don’t Drop Me, God.” Participation can be done either in person at the library or via Zoom.

In her poetry, Sellers uses multiple poetic forms and multiple voices to express a position marked by both sad acceptance and defiance.

Sellers has spent his summers on Mount Desert Island since childhood. She is a sailor, senior member of the Church of St. Mary’s by-the-Sea choir and co-founder of the Long Pond Sailing Regatta.

In her professional life, Sellers has taught drama at the Kangaru School in Kenya, East Africa, the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, and the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, where she directed plays. each fall term for 23 years.
