‘Samrat Prithviraj’ Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar’s Period Drama Collects Rs 1 Crore on Second Monday | Hindi Movie News

Despite its high profile and the anticipation surrounding its release, Akshay Kumar’s magnum opus, “Samrat Prithviraj”, opened below expectations at the box office.

The period drama has now collected Rs 1 crore on the second Monday, bringing its overall box office collection to Rs 62.72 crore. The film is expected to do business of Rs 11 crore in its second week. However, the drop will be around 80% this time, according to a new report from BoxofficeIndia.com.

The report also added that the film continues to do reasonable business in select UP centers. Recovering 155-160 crore in non-film revenue helped the film in a big way.

The film is said to have suffered due to the continued good performance of Kartik Aaryan’s horror comedy “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” at the box office, and now it’s also facing fierce competition with Hollywood’s latest release, “Jurassic World Dominion ” in India.

‘Samrat Prithviraj’ is the ‘Khiladi’ star’s first historical drama. The actor is seen trying out the character of medieval king Prithviraj Chauhan. The film focuses on his battles against Mohammed de Ghor in the 12th century. The film also stars Manushi Chhillar in his Bollywood debut except for Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood and Manav Vij.
