Start your career in the performing arts at Actors Center Australia

Calling all aspiring actors and directors! If you’ve memorized entire monologues from your favorite movie, your Oscar acceptance speech was written since you were ten, and you love nothing more than standing in front of (or behind) a camera, so Australia Actor Center (ACA) wants you.

The renowned Leichhardt-based Drama and Theater School is currently accepting applications for three of its highly sought-after courses: the Bachelor of Performing Arts (Stage and Screen), the Core Program and the Profession of Acting Director for the stage and the screen, a new Online Course.

The Bachelor of Performing Arts (Stage and Screen) is ACA’s flagship full-time course and is accredited by Torrens University Australia. Over three years, students will embark on a hands-on acting program designed for top performing students. The mission of the baccalaureate is to inspire, support and embolden all participants through sector training, so that they can confidently enter the industry and have a professional impact both nationally and internationally.

For those who cannot commit to the bachelor’s degree (or who have unsuccessfully auditioned at other drama institutes), the Foundation program offers students the opportunity to accelerate their creative development, hone their skills and to increase their chances of employment. With only 15-20 places available in the 20-week crash course, ACA is looking for people with creative and inspiring voice, talent, skills, potential and promise.

Led by ACA Founder Dean Carey, the new Craft of Directoring Actors for Stage and Screen online course is for working directors who want to better understand the acting process. Designed to provide the clarity and skills that any good director needs to work in the film and theater industries, the program also includes exercises and workshops where students will learn how to help connect an actor to an actor, an actor. to a scenario and to guide an actor so that he fully lives in a character. Special guest professors include Oscar nominee Steve Hicks; Gale Edwards, Broadway, West End director and Emmy Award winner; acclaimed vocal teacher Jennifer West and Adam Cook, head of drama at ACA.

Prices vary for each course (paid help is available) and all three programs can be taught online until IRL classes resume. Learn more and apply here.
