Stone performing arts company Rooftops Studios expands with additional facility in Leek> A Little Bit of Stone

Stone’s Rooftop Studios is expanding with an additional Performing Arts Academy and recording studio in Leek.

Young leeks with a passion for theater, song and dance are in luck – with the launch of a brand new studio in town.

The new facility is located in Newspaper House on Brook Street and is a new branch of the main academy of Staffordshire Rooftop Studios, which was established in Stone in 1990.

The studio will offer a multitude of opportunities for young people to develop their skills in dance and the performing arts. Rooftops has seen many students train at leading professional performing arts schools – including Mountview Theater Arts, Arts Educational Schools, Millennium Performing Arts and the Guildford Acting School.

Classes are led by professional performers and the schedule caters to all ages – including a stage academy helping students hone their skills in singing, acting and musical theater; a Dance Academy incorporating many dance and acro styles that welcome students from beginner level to internationally recognized exams and adult dance lessons. Thanks to exceptional relationships with the industry, the studio also hosts regular workshops with stars of the West End; giving young people the chance to learn from the pros.

The space is also home to a professional recording studio run by songwriter, music producer and mix engineer Matt Ball. Matt will work with artists and groups in the studio and also teach guitar and music technology lessons to adults and children to learn to mix and master music.

The new Leek studio is run by studio director Claire Simpson, herself a former Rooftop Studios student. Claire trained in musical theater at Performers’ College and Urdang Academy before embarking on a 10 year career with The Walt Disney Company, where she worked for 10 years at Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland Paris and also for Disney Character Events EMEA performing for live TV, tours, commercials, movie premieres, corporate and much more. Claire says:

“The studio opened on September 13e and I couldn’t be happier with the response – there was fantastic interest in all of the classes and I’m really excited for the future. The recording studio side offers a great new dimension insofar as our students of private singing lessons will be able to record their own performances. Anyone interested in joining any course is welcome to participate in a free trial and get a feel for the whole rooftop experience.
