The Newport County Arts and Culture Alliance is accepting nominations for the 2022 Artist Award



Submissions for the upcoming round of Newport County Arts and Culture Alliance (ACA) Artist Awards, in support of Newport County artists and arts projects to benefit the community, are due Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Notification of the winners will be made on March 31, 2022.

Now in its fifth year, the ACA Artist Awards provide up to $500 in financial support for artist projects that directly educate, inspire and uplift Newport County residents. Artists from all backgrounds, identities and artistic disciplines – including visual arts (illustration, graphic design, multimedia), performing arts (dance, music, theatre), literary arts (creative writing, poetry) and any other traditional field or Emerging – residing in and/or offering arts programs at one of the six Newport County communities (Jamestown, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Tiverton) are strongly encouraged to apply. Artists proposing an individual project or working in collaboration are considered eligible. ACA Artist Award nominees must be an ACA supporter at the time of submission. Sponsorship is available on the website at www.newportarts.org or by mailing a check to Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County, PO Box 4334, Middletown, RI 02842.

Past ACA Artist Awards recipients include The Newport String Project, Newport Children’s Theatre, Out of the Box Theatre, Ali Kenner Brodsky & Co., Jy-Tique Davis, Jessica Slocum, Jason Tranchida & Matthew Lawrence, Taleen Batalian, Newport Public Art, and DeBlois Gallery ACA’s 2020 and Fall 2021 winners were recognized via YouTube and www.newportarts.org. The 2022 winners will be presented and celebrated at an event to be organised.

ACA Board members, ACA supporters and sponsors look forward to assisting the next cohort of Artist Awards winners in their artistic endeavours, as well as engaging in the artistic endeavors that ‘they will be presenting for the Newport County community.
