SINGAPORE, April 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Singapore International Arts Festival (SIFA), that of Singapore The annual Pinnacle Performing Arts Festival featuring captivating and diverse works across theatre, music, dance, film and visual arts, returns May 20 – June 5, 2022. Organized by Arts House Limited (AHL) , SIFA 2022, titled The Anatomy of Performance – Ritual, marks the debut of the new festival director by Natalie Hennedige three-year term.
The SIFA 2022-2024 is unified by one recurring title – The Anatomy of Performance – emphasizing artistic fluidity, multidisciplinary collaboration and internationality within the festival commissions and presentations in the physical space and online.
The addition of Ritual in the title focuses the curation to encompass nuanced notions of Ritual – customary rites and rituals inherent to that of Singapore diverse cultures to artists experimenting at the intersection of multidisciplinary practice and technology responding to Ritual in the nuances of digital language and expressiveness.

SIFA’s proposal to create performances from Singapore offers inspired artistic expression emerging from within Asia on the international stage by being a platform for rigorous artistic process and meaningful international collaboration.”
SIFA 2022 aims to express the fluidity and intersections between art forms locally and internationally, and how, in practice, many artists cross the conventional boundaries of art genres. This created three layers of festival programming:
Creation – a platform for major SIFA offerings including new commissions, new iterations of works and presentations by outstanding international artists.
abundance of life – The SIFA virtual stage parallel to the live festival. Featuring five unique content categories: +DREAM, +EAT, +READ, +GROW, +DISCUSS, they aim to expand, curate and deepen the wealth of ideas and art emanating from the festival.
SIFA X – mark the place of alternative shows, with the inaugural edition oneirism under the artistic direction of SAtheCollective, Andy Chia.
SIFA 2022’s flagship commissions are in line with the festival’s commitment to encompass diverse perspectives that signal current interculturalism and global interconnectedness, as a catalyst for creative intersections and bold artistic innovations:
Life Profusion will launch the world premiere of the world-renowned sci-fi artist by Lucy McRae show movie, Delicate spells of the mind, dissect the operating system of the mind.
Opening fee MEPAN presents an ethereal sound and visual opus centered on nature by Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Malaysiacreative agency, The Tuyang Initiative.
Holly Herndon: PROTO by Holly Herndon, an exhilarating concert by a musician at the forefront of today’s technological revolutions, with sounds synthesized by Herndon and her “baby” AI Spawn.
The past and the future presents an expanded cinematic experience by the Singaporean filmmaker Yeo Siew Huaaccompanied by live music from musicians from Berliner Philharmoniker.
X Quantum Remotes is the result of a collaboration between playwright Eleanor Wang and Philippines-based John Torres which combines film and installation.
The neon hieroglyph by British artist and 2019 Turner Prize winner Tai Shani makes a new iteration of his work portrayed by the Malaysian actress Jo Kukathas.
