Thom Browne recently launched his Fall 2022 runway collection in New York. The collection of the season invites viewers to embrace their inner youth and step inside Thom Browne’s Adult Toy Shop, where 500 made-to-order teddy bears have been assembled to bring everyone’s fondest childhood memories to life. in epic proportions.
This series continues to see the designer’s playful take on classic costume making, this time showcasing an eclectic use of mixed materials to piece together unlikely shapes for unique silhouettes. Pops of vibrant orange, yellow, green and blue are used throughout the collection to emphasize the playful theme and handwork of each piece. Thom Browne’s classic tweed tailoring is enhanced with shades of gray layered over mogador silk jacquards in its collegiate red, white and blue hues. Iconic tones are paired with pops of gold, green and orange to bring an extra eye-catching touch to the collection.
Handcrafted cashmere knits continue to connect heritage fabrics with resonant silks. The accessories are heavily inspired by childhood toys and play off the youthful set which saw a spiral of paper dolls, a mixed Rubik’s cube, a rocket ship and a cluster of puzzle pieces. The shoes were inspired by the alphabet block design while the clutches came in the form of cars, patchwork lobsters and Thom Browne’s iconic daschund hector.
